St Margaret's is dedicated to St Margaret of Antioch, who was persecuted in Roman times for her faith and ultimately put to death. She is one of the most popular saints in medieval England, primarily because of her association with childbirth.
Once again, Victorian restoration disguises the early origins of this church. The South aisle is 13th century, as is the chancel arch. Like Boughton, the church sits neatly in what was once a very thriving village, with a picturesque pond at its centre.
An Evensong service is normally held on the 1st Sunday of the month and a Morning Prayer on the 3rd, alternating with Holy Communion. Generally Holy Communion takes place in even-numbered months and Morning Prayer in the odd-number months.
